Literature Text

“Good morning starshine,
the earth says hello-”
oh, welcome to hell -
oh, yes, welcome.
Now, please, if you would,
leave your shoes at the door,
forget all you’ve been living for,
ignore the insipid, rotten core,
a trivial status, forsaken lore,
take it down and beg for more!
Yes, take it down and beg for gore!

Inane compunctions,
a plethora of dysfunctions,
caress the devil at your back,
misuse the angel that you lack,
and swallow down this alkaline -
the electricity will blow your mind -
abandon all your hopes and dreams
for they are “all we seem to see.”

And, quothe that damn raven “Nevermore,”
a sorrowful song for Poe’s lost Lenore,
and Shakespeare, too, he’s down in hell,
repenting for all the lies he sells
of fair old Romeo and Juliet,
the happy Montagues and Capulets,
along with them is dear old Seuss -
a child favorite lost after youth.
They say he died of pure heartache,
but I believe life was too much for him to take…

To read the lies between the lines,
or pretend what you see is fine,
take your pick, I’ll let you know,
that green is stop, and red is go.
Look past the signs, past your grasp,
grab hold of that feeling and make it last,
and I’ll share one more thought - advice if you will:
never live life for bittersweet thrills.

“I’ve got some friends, some I hardly know,”
and that all means baggage too heavy to tow.
But each day was worth the struggle to live
when I realized they were here to love and to give,
and “we’ve had times I wouldn’t trade,”
because I know those memories will not fade.

Death is a beauty you’ll meet when you must,
but do not wish it upon ashes and dust,
those you’ve abandoned in all of the fuss,
everyone whoever prayed for your trust.
Don’t misplace love in this hole,
don’t give up, don’t let angst take its toll.
You’ll know what it's like to love and to lose,
and there will be times when you have to choose
wether you should be living with all the people you do,
or simply if you should live life for you.

And, if you so choose, to walk into dread,
maybe it's true- you deserve to be dead.

Accept this as truth, these words of my soul,
take them to heart- it’s okay to be bold.
Part of a piece written in correspondence with =bleedingbellezza (you can find the whole piece and her contribution to the beginning [correct me if I'm wrong in saying that was the part you wrote to] here [link]).

The work I post is what I believe to be the stanzas written completely by myself (again, correct me if I'm wrong).
